Starry, do you remember the table?

Yes, we use this to add 1 digit numbers. Oh, you don’t.

Let me show you how.

Suppose we have to add 4 plus 5. We begin and go down 4 numbers 1-2-3-4.

Next we move to 5 numbers to the right to add 5,1-2-3-4-5.

We are on the number 9. So the answer to 4 plus 5 is 9.

You have to complete this table by doing simple addition.

Let us begin, now 1 plus 1 is 2, we put 2 in the first box.

Next,1 plus 2 is 3, 3 go in to the next box of the row.

1plus 3 is 4, 1 plus 4 is 5, and 1 plus 5 is 6.

Now we have completed the first line of the table.

In the next line, 2 plus 1 is 3, 2 plus 2 is 4, 2 plus 3 is 5, 2 plus 4 is 6, and 2 plus 5 is 7.

In the third line, 3 plus 1 is 4, 3 plus 2 is 5, 3 plus 3 is 6, 3 plus 4 is 7, and 3 plus 5 is 8.

And now the fourth line, 4 plus 1 is 5, 4 plus 2 is 6, 4 plus 3 is 7, 4 plus 4 is 8, and 4 plus 5 is 9.

Finally the last line, 5 plus 1 is 6, 5 plus 2 is 7, 5 plus 3 is 8, 5 plus 4 is 9, and 5 plus 5 is 10.

Now, wasn’t that easy Starry?

Let us do an activity together. You have to complete the table by doing sums.

We shall begin with the first line! And 2 plus 2 is 4, has been given to us.

Now 2 plus 3 is 5, and 2 plus 4 is 6.

In the next line, 3 plus 2 is 5, 3 plus 3 is 6, and 3 plus 4 is 7.

And in the last line Starry, we have 4 plus 2 is 6, 4 plus 3 is 7, and 4 plus 4 is 8.

And now let us complete another table together.

Remember Starry, this too has to be completed by doing addition.
